Why Become a Member??

Why church membership?

 Why Join?

   There are several reasons to be part of a local body of believers:

 1.  The church and Jesus are “inseparable”!   You cannot say “Jesus Yes, and Church No!

           Jesus is the head of the church,  and established  the local church body.

 “…Even as Christ if the head of the church: and the saviour of the body.

Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ…..

             Ephesians 5 : 23b, 24a

 2.   The Bible says that you become a part of the church when you become a Christian!

“…And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”

 Acts 2 : 47

 3.   You are part of the Body of Christ and should not separate yourself from other members.

       The body of Christ needs every member.

 “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body,

being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”

 “For the body is not one member, but many.”

“Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.”

        1 Corinthians 12 : 12, 14, 27

 4.  God’s Word commands believers to “assemble” together!  We are to meet together as a

      Church.  Our purpose is to worship God and “encourage” each other.

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;

but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

 Hebrews 10: 25

 5.  The Church is the place for prayer, praise, and the preaching of the Word of God.

“…Saying unto them, It is written, MY HOUSE IS THE HOUSE OF PRAYER….”

Luke 20 : 46b

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;

 teaching and admonishing one another

 in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,  singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

 Colossians 3: 16

“ So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.”

Romans 10 : 14 - 17

  6.   Pastors, ministers, evangelists, teachers (who God has ordained and anointed) are

            there  to share what is necessary for our “spiritual” growth. The instruction helps us

            to  minister  to an “unsaved” world and "to each other".

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists;

 and some, pastors and teachers;

 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry,

for the edifying of the body of Christ.”

Ephesians 4 : 11 - 15

   7.   "Spiritual" strength and power comes to members through assembly.

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come,

they were all with one accord in one place.”

Acts 2 : 1

   8.    The Church is the proper place to receive of the Lord’s Supper

as a body of Christians.

And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said,

Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.”

            “After the same manner also [he took] the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink [it], in remembrance of me.”

           1  Corinthians 11 : 24, 25

   9.     Christians have the responsibility of encouraging and ministering to other members

           in the body of Christ.

 ‘’Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”

 1 Thessalonians 5:11

If you desire to become a member of Rock Star:

Any person may offer himself as a candidate for membership in the church.  All such candidates will be presented to the church at any regular church service for membership in any of the following ways:

By profession of faith and baptismThose making a public profession of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are received into membership upon their Baptism. Baptism is viewed as a vital part of one's public profession of faith in Jesus Christ.

 Essential concepts of Baptism are that:

                   (1) You be a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. A Christian is one who voluntarily

                        accepts Jesus Christ and decide to be one of Christ followers. When this decision is

                        made public (Matthew 10: 32 - 33), one is ready for baptism.

                   (2) You do so out of your own choice and will or proper motivation.  Baptism is an act

                        of obedience to Christ's command.  It symbolizes one's belief in the death, burial, and

                        resurrection of Christ. Baptism is not considered essential to one's salvation, but is

                        considered essential to a life of obedience.

                   (3) That the mode of Baptism be immersion (John 3;23; Acts 8: 38 - 39).

 “By affirmation of previous baptism by immersion and Christian Experience or Statement”

—When it is not possible (for whatever reason) to get a letter of recommendation from your former church, that person may join Rock Star by statement of his/her Christian Experience and former Baptism.

 Those professing their previous baptism by immersion in keeping with the meaning of baptism practiced by Rock Star are received upon that statement. Rock Star understands baptism to be a believer’s commitment to follow Christ in the pattern of Christ’s own life.

“By letter or promise of letter” — Persons who are members of another Baptist church of like faith and order are received by that church’s letter of recommendation or by promise of it (it being determined by this church that the person has been spiritually baptized and otherwise qualified for membership).

 Rock Star will write to the previous church for the letter of "transfer" of membership.

  Each member is required to attend New membership orientation classes.

Once you become a member, we hope that you will become active in the life of the church.
