Mission / Goal

Blessed [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Matthew 5:4

The death of a loved one can be very traumatic to a family. In times of grief and great distress, we all need the gentle support of others and the special solace of the Lord. It is this ministry goal and mission to comfort the bereaved family and to show compassion, give advise and help the family during this time.

Funerals are special occasions for zealous and empathetic church members to show Jesus to mourners seeking the special consolation of God. At this time, the very presence of a sympathetic and loving person brings comfort to the family.

The duties of this ministry include meeting with families who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Upon notification of a death within the church, the member communicates with the appropriate family members to discern the needs of the family. The ministry then organizes volunteers to meet those needs, especially meals at the time of the funeral. The committee also assists in notifying the Pastor, Deacon assigned to that family, as well as any church auxiliaries regarding the funeral services.

This ministry also shall have a budget to dispense to the family the pre-determined bereavement expression note.
